The current label design was created by Alfred’s son, Jean came made its debut on a bottle of 1929 bottle served in 1936 for His Royal Majesty George VI’s coronation. The Semillon vines are among some of the oldest in the Bordeaux appellation. The oldest vines are close to 120 years old!
Ruby colour, a glossy and vibrant, crimson hue. Despite this appearance it seems rather restrained on the nose. The palate seems rather open , the substance of the wine showing a very appealing fresh and composed style in the middle though. Fresh fruit on the finish, with just a light grip. Rather substantial but ripe tannins in the middle. Good acidity. Lots of potential here.
